Globally, the policy of coastal zone management and ocean management are changing from the functional differentiated approach to integrated coastal zone management approach, the key content of which is integration and coordination. According to environmental, economical and political conditions, the system of coastal zone management of each country is put into practice in various ways, but fundamental elements of integrated costal zone management, such as cooperation, coordination and adaptive management, are working as consistent and universal principles. Although China and Korea adopted integrated coastal zone management similarly in the middle of 1990s, but according to each countries'political and socioeconomic conditions, it is far from each other in the process of development of system. The most outstanding difference is that Korea has a single law of coastal zone management but China is equipped with various forms of laws about coastal zone management. The purpose of this study is to compare the coastal zone management system between China and Korea from an aspects of process of execution, law, system and ways of management and to draw practical implications for the effective realization of the integrated coastal management system(ICZM) for each country.
