Especially after China joining WTO, the commercial banks of China will face the most severe pressure and challenge in the field of market, customer and talented persons etc. The commercial banks should change management ideas when considering strategy of development. They should regard clients as core to set up a new kind of operation model and implement bank restructure engineering. Based on above things, high efficiency and flexible operation and management system will be rebuilt to set up a true commercial bank that has strong competitive power, innovation and risk-control capability, adapting themselves to sustaining development.The theory of Bank Reengineering originated from USA in 1990s. It is an application and development of Corporation Reengineering theory in bank management. The credit BPR (Business Process Reengineering) of commercial banks, which is a systematic engineering, not only deals with credit operations, but also relates to bank operation ideas, organization structure, information technology, financial innovation and so on. In allusion to the current problems of our commercial banks, this paper adopts theoretical study and practical observation together to find out the effective combined point of both sides and analyze the practical situation by recommending the BPR theory and concerned technical methods including post aiming, value chain analysis and zero defect management etc. The commercial banks of China should consider the fact of ourselves, abide by the basic principle of BPR, entirely innovate upon the credit management mechanism, try hard to amend the technical instruments, exert ourselves to improve the servicemanner, make great efforts to heighten the efficiency of service and management, integrate the flow of credit operations, optimize the association of credit labor, strengthen the control of credit risk and set up the efficient work flow and the integrated management system. By the means of BPR, the commercial banks try to create the best efficiency of credit operations and enhance the market competitive power and persistent progress ability.The structure of this paper is arranged as follows. In the first chapter, the paper analyzes the strategic background in which Chinese commercial banks carry out BPR nowadays, pointing out the necessity of BPR on credit operations in particular, and introduces the basic concepts of BPR, especially emphasizing the fundamental which the commercial banks of China depend on while implementing BPR. In the second chapter, the paper addresses the existing system and flow of credit operations, indicating the category, status, object and procedure of credit operations, as well as the bad assets' actuality and cause of formation. In addition, the paper stresses the primary problem and major defect which exist in the credit flow and management of Chinese commercial banks at present. In the third chapter, aiming at the situation of the commercial banks of China, on the basis of the integrated strategy of bank business, we respectively put forward the relevant strategy and measure of credit BPR. Through carrying out bank reengineering project, we'll establish market-oriented and client-as-core credit service system in deed. In the fourth chapter, using the experience of the credit BPR of domestic commercial banks and foreign ones for reference, the paper describes in detail the practice of credit BPR plan which a certain commercial bank of China put into effect, taking the credit flow frame of "client manager and risk manager" as the core. Moreover, the paper analyzes the credit flow after implementing BPR, trying to offer a platform from which the commercial banks of China may borrow ideas for carrying out credit BPR.
