Prahalad and Hamel provided the concept of the core competence of the corporation in 1990, and it has become a heat point of the research on business management theory. But from the point of view of the theory, the researches on the core competence of the corporation still stayed the controversy of its conception and connotation. The origin, the development mechanism and the evaluation system of the core competence had not been researched in a uniform frame. And from the point of view of the practice, because the enterprise of our country, especially state-owned enterprise, were affected by planned economy in the past, they lacked competition consciousness generally, and few enterprises cultivated the core competence consciously. As a result, the state-owned enterprise hardly owned the core competence. Based on these backgrounds, the structure model and evaluation system of the core competence of the corporation are deeply researched in my study. And I hope this study will promote the state-owned enterprise to cultivate their core competence in the future.Before the concept of the core competence of the corporation was provided, the original source of competitive advantages had been explored from the market structure view, the resource-based view of firm and capability-based view of firm since 1980s. But there were some imperfections in these views, which were found under the researches of demonstrations. On the background of that, Prahalad and Hamel provided the concept of the core competence of the corporation, and it has become a heat point of the research on business management theory. But in these views on the core competence, the original source of competitive advantages is still hardly found. Many scholars considered the core capability that was extended by the core competence as the original source of competitive advantages. So they had not still probed into the original source of competitive advantages.The core capability is not the original source of competitive advantages. And the core competence is the true original source that provides competitive advantages for the corporation. The core competence should have five characters: value quality, uniqueness, malleability, dynamic quality and cultivating nature for a long time. The core competence is made of three layers of the capabilities that own those five characters. The three layers are the corporate culture strength, the corporate learning capability and the corporate innovating capability. In the structure of the core competence, the corporate culture strength is the basic unite, and it provides spirit energy fore the corporate learning capability and the corporate innovating capability. The corporate learning capability lie in the middle of the core competence structure, and it is a bridge between the corporate culture strength and the corporate innovating capability. It makes the enterprise obtain accumulation of knowledge, and it offer the knowledge foundation for the corporate innovating capability too. The corporate innovating capability lies in the outer layers. It can make the enterprise form the core capability and finally win the competition advantage in the market competition. So as the original source of competitive advantages, the core competence of the corporation is an energy source, which is made of the integration of the corporate culture strength, the corporate learning capability and the corporate innovating capability.In the core competence structure of three layers, the corporate culture strength is made of view of the value and corporate spirit; the corporate learning capability is made of learning spirit, learning mechanism and learning process; the corporate innovating capability is made of innovating spirit, innovating mechanism, knowledge storage and innovating process. There are three layers in the whole structure of the core competence and there is a core in each layer. Under the action of the three layers, the original source of competitive advantages is gained.
