| At present, manufacturing has become the main industry for creating human wealth. And it is the basement of material and spiritual civilization. However, on the other hand, it consumes a lot of the limited resources and causes serious environment pollution. So, for manufacturing, how to decrease the consumption and how to reduce the pollution is the great problems in the 21st century. To solve the problem, it is essential to use green design and manufacturing technology and carry out the strategy of sustained growth. Now, globalization, information, no-pollution and service-emphases are the tendency. Enterprises want to own a share of the world market, want to obtain Sustainable development, want to win in the competition, adopting green design and manufacturing technology is their optimum choice.This article analyses the following: 1.meaning and feature of green design, green manufacturing; 2.birth and presence of green manufacturing; 3. future of manufacturing; 4. role of green manufacturing in the development of enterprises. Through analyses, it draws the conclusion that green design and manufacturing is the effective solution to manufacturing resources consumption and environment pollution, the key to the realization of controlling the pollution source, the specific embodiment of sustained development strategy in manufacturing, and the way of making sustained growth come true.
