| The competition in modern world is not only the one of the product, but also the one of the ability of logistics. Developing modern logistics, which is an objective demand for realizing mass production, is necessary to promote the function of the city as an economic center, and at the same time, it's an important measure to strengthen overall competitive ability of a city. As an advanced management concept, way of organization and management skills, modern logistics is the important part of investment environment, key means to extensively attend international cooperation and competition and an effective access to circulate economics positively and efficiently. In order to maintain a continuous, steady and healthy development, it's important to develop modern logistics in Wuhan city which will increase the allocation efficiency of product factors, the efficiency of reconstruction, scale economics and S&T development. The development of modern logistics in Wuhan city can lead some important pillar industries of our nation to work out of the current awkward situations, such as business circulation, transportation and information, and obtain new economic grow points, which in turn will alleviate the problem of laid-off workers because it will offer many new employment opportunities by 20% per year.Wuhan city locates in the center of regional economic area. By making use of this location, matched to it's all-round logistics capability, Wuhan will finally develop to be the logistics center in Center China.This paper aims at the difficulties that developing logistics will face and combines some theories such as modern logistics, enterprise development strategy, industry economics with the current logistics situation in Wuhan to produce, analyze and solve these difficulties. It also offers some valuable theories, methods, index and sign for reference by some example analysis. First this paper does comparison research on different concepts of modern logistics, analyses the relationships between the development of modern logistics and electronic business, and the trends and characteristics of modern logistics, then explains the relationships between modern logistics and national economy. At the same time, it disserts the present situation of modern logistics in our country and makes aresearch on the influences on this industry after the entry into WTO using some examples, like USA, Europe, Japan and China(eg. Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou).Second, on analyzing the influences of modern logistics on city economy, the paper offered 7 factors which will affect the relationship between modern logistics and the development of city economy from two aspects fixed amount & setter character. These 7 factors interact with each other, and establish the important position of modern logistics in Wuhan's development.Third, this paper analyzes the external & interior economic environments, resources and ability of Wuhan city by the theories of strategy management, combined with regional economics & modern logistics, and produces the strategy orientation model for the development of modern logistics according to the practice in Wuhan.
