On The Comparison Between Chinese Engineering Research Centers And The United States'

Engineering research center (ERC) which was created in the United States, is a new kind of market-oriented research unit. It is not only an important force to stimulate transferring science and technology into real productivity, but also an important part to strengthen the relationship among enterprises, research units and government to consummate national innovation system. ERC undertakes engineering research, engineering service engineering education three missions which are connected each other. After years of development, American ERCs have summarized a mature and effective operation system and made great attribution to industry'development and engineering education's reform. Although our Chinese ERCs were set up later than the American and made a lot of achievement in strengthenning industry, academy and research institutes, in heightening industry technology level and in educating engineering technology human resources, our ERCs are still a bit behind of the American in the aspect of operation system and exerting impact. Starting from the history background and current status, this article analyzes the differences and causes between two countries' ERCs operation system and exerting impact, then discuss some suggestions caring about our ERCs problems.This article is devided into five parts: chapter one is exordium; chapter two is the establishment and development of two countries' ERCs; chapter three is the comparison between two countres' ERCs operation system; chapter four is the comparison between two countres'ERCs impact; chapter five is the problems of our ERCs, developing trends and suggestions to improve our ERCs.
