Suzhou's Sustainable Development In The Process Of Urbanization

Technology has two sides: advantage and disadvantage, as has urbanization. Although been the same trend of every state in the world, urbanization brings about many problems, in which the urban syndrome becomes more serious. Therefore, we shall devote ourselves to raising urban living quality, to improving natural environment, to keeping the vitality of urban development and to realizing sustainable development. This has been the same aim of every state and the important issue every stratum in urban society cares for. In this article, we first discuss the basic concepts and principles of sustainable development and urban sustainable development. Then we select four aspects: basic urban establishments, urban environment, urbanite's consumption and mini-town construction to analyze Suzhou's urban sustainable development and propose some countermeasures. Finally, based on Suzhou's urban and regional characteristic, we discuss some regional selections to realize urban sustainable development.
