A Study On Urban Management In The Development Of China's Urbanization

China is experiencing the accelerating urbanization, and China further melts into the tide of globalization after joining WTO, accordingly China is widening the field of market-oriented reformation, these factors are the background of urban management spread in China. Urban management not only requires government to treat the city as great state-owned assets, but also requires government to make sure that it's not a merely government act, but a kind of economical act by way of the scientific management of urban planning, construction and administration. To carry out the strategy of urban management is the only way of constructing cities, perfecting urban functions and developing urban economy, which makes urban government to fit in with the transformation of national economic system. As a new principle, urban management is worshiped by more and more urban governments and applied in promoting urban competitiveness.However, urban management is a double-blade sword, it may cause some secret worries as its push the urban development, which should raise our concerns. At the same time, urban management has been studied by academic circles, though many standpoints are not consistent, great majority think that urban management is the combination of practice with theory. This dissertation arranges and summaries the practice and theory of urban management, and this dissertation tries to make a valuable exploration for China's urbanization development.The frame of this dissertation is divided into four parts:The first part starts from the source of urban management, then analyses its concept and meaning, and induces the theory foundation of urban management.Based on accelerating urbanization, the globalization and market reformation, this dissertation points out the backgrounds of urban management. Then analyses several typical cases of urban management in China, and summaries some modes of China urban management. All this argumentation make up of the second part.The third part of this dissertation analyses the relationship of urban management and urban competitiveness by statistics, and the result shows that urban management is the main factor of promoting urban competitiveness, therefore, finally put some strategies of promoting urban competitiveness through urban management.After completed the three above parts, this dissertation tries to probe the institutional source of the fever of urban management in China, then points out several main problems in urban management in China, and gives some constructive advices to resolving these problems in the end, all of these constitute the fourth part.
