Research On The America's Hegemonism In Post-Cold War

With the incomparable strength and wealth and the strong wish to lead the whole world, America is the most powerful country in the world. Especially in the post-cold war, without the restriction of the Soviet Union, the various superiority of the U.S.A is more and more conspicuous. America is at the crucial time to play an important role as a leader and to build the new order which America guides. So the end of the cold war gives America best opportunity to establish its unilaterial hegemony system. It's the powerful strength and the strong wish that in the eye of most countries and people, America has become the synonym of hegemonism and power politics.America's hegemonism had some obvious characteristics post cold war. Firstly, to pursue unilaterial hegemony so that it can serve the interest of America was the most important task of American diplomatic politics. So America devoted itself to compelling the other countries and ensured its leading position. Secondly, America tacked all measures in order to consolidate its leading position. Besides politic, economic, military, and cultural means, for lack of restriction of the Soviet Union, America given prominence to armed intervention and military attack, which has become an important feature and of American diplomatic politics. Finally, America attached more importance to the spreading of democratic value concept. By prevailing its politic institution, ideas and culture, life style, and value concept, America wished to have an overall bearing on other countries so as to subordinate them to its hegemony, and to dominate the international order with a firmly America's permanent hegemony. If there was necessary, it would to intervene in other country's domestic affairs by holding the flag of democracy and human rights.The strong hegemonic peculiarity of America's diplomatic politics was attributed to its economic and military power and its theoretical foundation. On one hand, America owns the most powerful comprehensive strength based on advanced science and technology, which was far ahead from other countries. Economically, America's unparalleled economic strength and creative ability had pushed forward its hegemonic politics, within which its influence and .domination on world economy acted as an important section. Militarily, all that advantageous safecircumstances, large quantity investment in national defense and super conventional weapons and nuclear weapons were the powerful backing for its hegemonism. On the other hand, the strong sense of mission and superiority, which originated from America's religious belief, resulted in its strong consciousness of leadership and expansionism. Also, various theories both in realism and idealism effected its policies and had been the theoretical base.Although it was in an unparalleled superiority, America's hegemonism policy falls into dire straits from either itself or the tendency of globalization and multi-polar international society. But at first, we must confess that there is still a distance between American's current forces and the attempt to be hegemony in the world. There are two causes. One is that it's the rule that depress always comes after the prosperity. The other is that the target is so great that it beyond its national forces. While, the inner contradiction and other problems also limit realizing the ambition. Secondly, the politics-economy functioned less with the development of the globalization, which declines the superiority of America. As the global question becomes more and more conspicuous, its safeguard is threatened in diversity. So America has to relinquish its way of unilateralism and try to find cooperation in a bigger range.At last, the tendency of multi-polar, starting from the 1970s, doesn't stopped developing for the sake of America's solo-hegemony.
