The sound of human differs from that made by musical instruments in that it boasts the acoustics, language and impressiveness that would be unsurpassed by any musical instrument. Therefore, human sound plays a role of vital importance in musical aesthetics of human.The voice of human is just like a musical instrument. But unlike ordinary instrument, it is a magical musical instrument that is capable of expressing the music in different languages. Singing is unlike musical instrument. The vocal organ of each individual is specific, which makes difference in the methods people adopted to sing. Singing is just like to learn to play a musical instrument, subject to certain requirements. Singing, in fact, is to give a performance with your throat. You would never make an appealing sound unless you grasp appropriate performing techniques. Then, how to use your throat to generate appealing sounds?If your want to perform music with your voice in a correct and scientific way, you have first understand the physiological structure and vocal principal of the throat. Chen Qilian, my tutor of Master degree in vocal music, who is a foreign professor of Vocal Department of Shanghai Conservatory of Music with years of experience in opera singing and teaching, also deems it necessary for bel canto singers to learn the importance of vocal organ in singing.My great gratitude goes to my tutor, Chen Qilian, at whose recommendation I referred to lots of monographs on organs used for vocal music and her valuable experiences in teaching and singing.
