Breath Application And Musical Expression In Oboe Performance

Breath gives life to human being, and also gives life to music art. Performance of oboe is not only a skilled technique, and what's more it gives life and soul to music works, namely life of art. However, the source of it is the breath in performance. The breath in oboe performance includes two aspects:the necessary physical breath and the breath of musical expression. The former is concrete, and the latter belongs to musical expression. The former is fundamental, and the latter is its promotion. It is the purpose of this paper to interpret the breath application of oboe, which will make the performance more easy and free, and improve the musical expression of players. The writer consulted various materials about oboe and the breath application in different music performances, and also combined the performance experience of own. Finally, sum up the methods and features of the breath application of oboe in different works under the direct of tutor, in the manner of analyzing the oboe works which had been performed, and using the theory knowledge and performance practice experiences during postgraduate time.
