The dissertation makes a study on the relationship between religious consciousness and aesthetic consciousness,and their impact of film arts,especially their impact of the South Korean film arts.Since there are so many South Korean films,so I just discuss Ki-duk Kim's film as an example.Before my dissertation, there are many researchers who have made a great deal of research, including the two similar points of religion and aesthetics, the aesthetic transcendence and religious transcendence,the experience of aesthetics and religion, the religious realm and aesthetic realm etc.Based on other researchers'points,I find new ideas of my own.There are three chapters of this dissertation.The first chapter focuses on the relationship between religious consciousness and aesthetic consciousness,which has five parts.Section one discusses the ideology of religion and aesthetics,which is their similar points. Section two analyzes three same components of religion and aesthetics,mainly about the relationship between religious creators,religious art,religious embracer and aesthetic object, aesthetic subject, especially their similarities and differences. Section three analyzes the mystique of religion and aesthetics.People treat religion as a kind of tool to surpass their own life,by which they can find comfort in their after life.On the contrary, people treat aesthetics as a tool to surpass their daily life, by which they can get consolation in their real life.Anyway, from this point, religion and aesthetics share the same experience in the mysterious world.Section four discusses the humanity of religion and aesthetics.Both religion and aesthetics have humanistic care.Section five is the interrelationship between religion and aesthetics.In early times,the only beautiful thing in their mind was the God,so when people talked about aesthetics,what they really cared was divinity, not aesthetics.With the social development, people began to notice the beauty of nature, and then the importance of aesthetics gradually increased.As a result,aesthetics was no longer obscured by divinity. The second chapter discusses religious consciousness'and aesthetic consciousness'impact on the art of film. The first part is the religious consciousness'impact on film art, including the three major religions of the world, and their effects on film arts.The second part is the aesthetic consciousness'impact of film arts.The third part analyzes the mystery and humanity of film,which influenced by religion and aesthetics.According to my view, religion gives film mysterious content;meanwhile aesthetics gives film attractive form.In the terms of humanity, it is religion and aesthetics that make film pay attention to the ultimate concern of the people.The third chapter discusses the consciousness impact of religion and aesthetics on the South Korean film, according to which I think that Ki-duk Kim's film is a good example.There are two parts of this impact, mystery and humanity. According to the mysterious part of his films,first I discuss the'emptiness'of Buddhism. Second I examine the mystery of aesthetic consciousness in his films,such as 'uncertainty','undetermined','blank' of Phenomenology, Hermeneutics, Receptional Aesthetics.Third I analyze the'symbol'of symbolism, and the 'defamiliarization'of formalism in his films.Ki-duk Kim's film always have few scripts,which means his audience must use their own knowledge,experience,and emotion to participate in, or re-create his films to complete those films'meaning. According to the humanity's impact on Kim Ki-duk film, I pay attention to three parts;first past is the'comeuppance'and'samsara'of Buddhism.Second part is the 'sin'and'atonement'of Christianity. Third part is the'streams of consciousness'of aesthetics. |
