In "Dream of Red Mansions" and "Gone with the Wind", the authors portrayed respectively two female characters----Wang Xifeng and Scarlett O'Hara. Both of them showed prominent characters and distinguishing features. This article first introduces the present situation of comparative study on these two female characters and then it analyses the writing backgrounds of the two novels. It attempts to adopt parallel methods to study the different ways of their marriage construction, and the description of characters from the perspective of their marriage. It tries to find out their language characters and the reasons that resulted in their marriage tragedy through comparing the construction ways of their marriage.Cao Xueqin constructed Wang Xifeng's multiple-status in her marriage life from both positive aspects and negative aspects. This article intends to show that Wang Xifeng's special position in the Jia family benefited from her excellent management gift and communication techniques and her marriage tragedy lies in the authority of husband and family in the feudalism society.Margaret Mitchell's writing purpose of constructing Scarlett's three marriages was to show Scarlett's independence and special behaviors, besides her courage and resolution, were the reasons that she saved the whole family. We can see there are common aspects in these two works in the construction of the two women characters'marriage. We can see two surroundings in the two novels, one is false and the other is true. Both of them provide large space for the heroines to demonstrate their independence, capabilities and self. The authors enrich the heroines of the whole work and protrude their distinguishing feature by portraying Wang Xifeng's and Scarlett's peculiar qualities in contrast to other traditional female characters. This thesis also intends to proves that women are much better than men on the aspects of imagination in the two novels apart from their talents and courage and their intelligence and responsibility are also advantages for women. We can see the androgyny specialty of Wang Xifeng and Scarlett, and the strong Feminism of the authors in the two novels. The authors describe the non-major female characters that have sad or lucky fate to show a common truth that the advanced class replacing the backward one is the natural tendency.
