Music Analysis And Singing Study Of Schumann's Liederspiel "Frauenliebe Und Leben"

Robert Schumann (Robert Alexander Schumann1810-1856), who lived in the 19th-century, was an outstanding German composer, music critic and pioneer of Romantic music. He created a lot of good classic art works with his unique and keen musical endowment and profound rich literary knowledge. He was named as "The most poetic musician ever" by Liszt due to his extraordinary musical temperament. As an important pioneer in the development of the Romantic music, he contributed a lot to making broad space for romantic music and the unprecedented glory era of the German art song.Liederspiel of"Frauenliebe und leben"is a masterpiece created during the peak period of Schumann's creation life, and also is one of the most famous vocal divertimento music in the history of the world music. This liederspiel is composed of eight poems written by the German Romantic poet Chamisso. Love as the theme, it depicts a woman who first came to know her lover, then fell in love, got married and finally parted from her lover. The composer vividly portrayed the development of a woman's inner emotional changes with beautiful delicate musical language. By the clever transition of eight scenes, it vividly reveals a woman's love and life of the whole lifetime. It has a clear structure, simple melodies, concise musical forms, and the perfect combination of the melody, poetry, and piano accompaniment. In the first part, I concisely summarize and discuss the composer, his art songs and the vocal music divertimento, combined with knowledge of music history .In the second part, by the study of the overall structure of the work; I make an in-depth and general analysis of the divertimento ontology. Besides, in the perspective of Schumann's love life, I try to find out the person for whom Schumann composed this "immortal love" .The third part is the core of the paper. In this part, I study the musical analysis and singing skills of the divertimento. Seeing the eight sub-songs as separate units and combined with my own singing practice, I make a detailed and comprehensive analysis about the structure, music style, accompaniment, and the singing characteristics of each song. It shows the artistic value and charm of this work deeply and powerfully.
