On The Psychologism And Anti-psychologism In Logic

In logic,there are two different answers to the problem "whether psychology functions as the basis of logic",which are the psychologism and anti-psychologism .The part which holds a positive attitude toward this issue is the psychologist, and the other part holding a negative attitude is anti-psychologist.Psychologist considers psychology the basic science,and logic,aesthetics both applied science based on psychology.Psychologism doctrine can be divided into strong psychologism and weak psychologism .Strong psychologist advocates that logical laws is summarized from our thinking process, which belongs to the laws of psychology. Weak psychologist admits the psychological origin of logical laws,but claims that it has the autonomy and independence opposite to its origin.Anti-psychologist believes that psychology is not the basis of logic and advocates to remove all the psychological factors in the field of logic.Actually,any theory alone can not be a pleasing solution to this problem,for they both have a biased point to the issue.For example,psychologism starting from the laws of psychology can not explain the necessity of logical law. While the conclusions of anti-psychologism are irreproachable,their arguments do not make people satisfactory as well.Through systemic introduction and analysis,we conclude that psychology is derived from idealism and anti-psychologism from realism. Idealism covers the logic with some subjective color,while realism aims at recovering the objectivity of logic.From today's perspective, how should we look to this problem? What can we get from our ancestors? we attempts to be established in the development of the contemporary epistemology,accesses the psychologism and anti-psychologism from both positive and negative aspects and then reconsiders relationship between logic and psychology. Logic and psychology are considered to have a common research area. We can apply logic results in the study of the psychological problems and apply the outcome of psychology in the study of logical problems. Only in this way can we promote the development of these two science,thereby to enhance the cognitive level of human beings.
