The Supplements And Textual Studies Of Chen Yuyin's Memorials On Sino-France War-(1883.9-1884.5)

Chen Yuyin(1829——1889), named Yan Qing, or Kuang Guo. He was born in a family which is a ruler of minority at village called Nalao, in Xilin city Guangxi province. In 1856, he led on soldier to Yunnan to suppress the rebellion of Hui and Miao minority. Then he took up the post of magistrate of Yi Liang Xian and Cheng Jiang Fu. In1892, he was the Bu Zheng Shi and Ang Cha Shi. In 1868, he holds the post of Xun Fu which is the ruler of the Yunnan province. In 1873, he becomes the Zong Du which is the governor of Yunnan-Guizhou province. In 1881, Chen Yuyin went to Fu Jiang to enhance the coast defence. In 1884—1885,he lead on army to Vietnam to defend aggression of the France,and he achieved the victory In 1886, he measure off the borderline of Sino-Vietnam. he dead in 1889 which he is the the governor of Yunnan-Guizhou province. He pay a lot time in Yunnan, except he went home for the death of his stepmother, and work in Guizhou and Fujian. He most achievement was recover the situation of the economy, culcure, military affairs and politic. Otherwise, he wined the Sino-France war when China menaced by the France. He does him best on solving the bolder problem. Chen Yuyin is the point to research history of bolder of southwest of China.Chen Yuyin was the most important ruler of southwest of China in later Qing dynasty in.he is also the witness of the most important events. His memorials to the throne focus on the course of Yunnan from chaos to peace. It is the precious fist hand record about the history on frontier crisis and the Sino-France war. it includes the ideas and policy of the centre government and distrct. The historians focus on the Chen Yuyin's memorials ("Qing Xiang Qing Gong Zou Gao"), but less on the philology. There is little research on the origin of the record. The basic work on the collection in needed. There are only there papers on this title. they are Fang Guoyu's"the researches on the records about Yunnan on Qing Xiang Qing Gong Zou Gao", on"researches on historical materials of Yun Nan"volume 2,The foreword on the"Qing Yuyin Zou Gao"and the"Qing Yuyin Ji". These articles research on edtion, number of the volumes and the content. They emphasize on truth recorded on these memorials. Otherwise, the new edition"Qing Yuyinji"and the"the fact of Yun Nan about Qing Xiang Qing Gong"are just punctuate the memorials. There are a lots lacks of textual researching. So I choose the memorials on the fist defend French's aggression in Vietnam which lead by Chen Yuyin. I research the records on the memorials. I hope it is a start on the research.The Sino-France war is important event in Chinese modern history. It came into being the far reaching infection on French and China which are the warfare country and the Vietnam. Chen Yuyin was the most powerful and longest term officer in Chinese army which fighting in the war. He also takes part in whole course. The Chen Yuyin's memorials record the facts about the war. So the research on it is important basic work for researching the Sino-France war and Chen Yuyin himself. This paper will analyze 28 papers,about 30,000 words. I use the recorders on the"Zhong Fa Zhang Zheng"original, adds and the other datas, to supplement the memorals. Then I will find the trures.Fist, I analyze the memorials and collect the recorders on Sino-France war to make it convenient for research the war.Second, I supplement the lost part and a whole paper which is concealed for tattoo. I search two and half memorials on the archives of zongli yamun. There are"the memorial of Chen Yuyin report there is on war between French and Vietnam"("Qing Yuyin xiang zong shu cao song fa yue jin wu zhan shi mi ze") in 15 September in 1883,"Qin Yuyin report that gave assistance to black flag army to enhance frontier defence",("yun gui zong du chen yu yin xiang zong shu cao song jie ji hei qi jian gu bian fan ze") in 9 October,the remain half is"recive oders that keep the safe of upriver of red river by the risk of river"("zun zhi xiang xi fu zou ju xian she fang li bao hong jiang shang you ze")in 21 April 1884. The total words are 700.Third,collect other literatures, especial the French recorders, to find the fact on the recordation. The flood in the war at Dan Feng is by reason of bank elapse by nature,not by the French army digged it like the ordinary opinion. I prove that the relationship between black flag army and the Qing army is not harmonious like the Qing Yuyin said in his memorial after the war at Shan Xi. The fact is that the black flag army is restricted by Qing army. The fore research is simple and exparte. The question weather the black falg army took part in the war at th Bei Ning is confusions because the conflict of all kind of Chinese records. The specialties research didn't slove the question for lack of recoders. I search the recorder which the black flag army fight back the French army in French achives. So that, I make sure that the black army took part in the war, etc.Finally, I research the recorders on Sino-France war in the memorials. The Qin Yuyin's memorials lack the recorders. So we must use it be carefully.
