The freehand paintings of flowers and birds of Ba Da Shanren play an important role in the history of the development of the painting in China. Their works impose great influence in the contemporary world. Especially in the aspect of the composition of the flowers and birds paintings, they successfully solve the contradiction between the tradition and the reality in the paintings. In this way, a new artistic language is provided and a new composition style is created. To some extent, the Chinese paintings are greatly enriched by them. Their main contribution is that they break through the old-fashioned composition rules of art and create a new composition paradigm of the flowers and birds paintings, therefore the creative transformation of the tradition is realized. Thus, the art works do not only reflect the aesthetic needs of the people at that time and its modern character, but also maintain the recognition of the Chinese culture, which has become a good continuity of the tradition. This paper attempts to make an analysis of the flowers and birds paintings of Ba Da Shanren in four aspects, namely, the evolution of the birds and flowers paintings and the operating position, the development of their paintings, the composition structure paradigm of their works and their impact on the following generations. Besides, the author trys to analyze their works further from the point of pure art, in order to reveal the internal structure of the composition and the rational distribution of the point, line, plane.
