The 'New-Spring Festival Painting Movement'was set up twice in modern China, first in 1930s, and second in 1950s. As a symbol of traditional folk culture, the Spring Festival Painting was used to establish a modern state by the intellectuals and politicians.During the first movement, the New-Spring Festival Painting was set to be the kind of painting which is realistic, reflecting the Anti-Japanese War, and the most important, serve the people. In this way,'people' was defined to be the bottom, especially the peasants who threw themselves into the Anti-Japanese War. This is valuable to the establishment of the nation-state.Another 'New-Spring Festival Painting Movement' was set up after the People's Republic of China was established. In the discussion about Month Card, the New-Spring Festival Painting was formulated to express the revolutionary production and construction. The civil definition did not adapt the new state. The worker-peasant alliance is the acceptable conception to re-define'people'. And this time, the final intention is to establish a people's democratic state.
