The visual design with complex form of expression and connotation has been applied in all aspects of urban commercial space. It makes important efforts to decorate space and convey information. Meanwhile, it is the key manifestation of the city image while being an important focal point and visual extension of the urban landscape. This could reflect the unique style and position of a city. Our thesis as a tentative research on visual design and its language law mainly applies interdisciplinary research methods, such as Design, Iconology, Creatology, Aesthetics and Communication study. The dissertation starts from the specific expression of visual language to research and analyze the expression disciplines in urban space. At the meantime, we exert its decoration and possibilities of landscape development. It is expect to provide reference for management and open up new space for visual communication design.There are five parts in this paper. In the first chapter, we summarize the background of research subject home and abroad, research objectives and methodologies, and define and present the research object. The rest of the paper is organized as follows. In Chapter 2, we present the categories and forms of visual design and its language in commercial space. Through the representation of visual design applying in different space-time, we clarify the importance of visual design in commercial space and harmony with the urban landscape while reveal the existing problems in the use of visual design. Chapter 3 is going to research and analyze social needs and creation theory of visual design and its language based on methodologies like Psychology, Creatology, Aesthetics, Communication Study and Sociology. Next chapter explains applying discipline for the basic elements of visual language while focusing on the function and design law of visual design in commercial space. Moreover, there will be further elaborating on this basis to enhance and extend and reinforces and extend such discipline. Chapter 5 reveals the applying significance of visual design and its language laws. It requires relevant administrative departments to enhance effective management while exploring the future development of visual language. |
