Two Kinds Of "Lian" ("连") Constructions In Zhuzhou Dialect

The study of the grammar of Zhuzhou dialect is an important part of Xiang dialect grammar study. At the same time, "lian " construction is a significant content in special pattern study of Modern Chinese. Currently it is not enough all-around and thorough on " lian " study in Zhuzhou dialect, the thesis tries to make a sufficient investigation and description.The thesis is subdivided into six parts.Chapter 1 Introduction:In this chapter, we will introduce the geographical location and historical overview of Zhuzhou city, subjects investigated in this thesis, research status of " lian " constructions, research purposes, the significance of this study and language theories, methods, as well as data sources applied in it.Chapter 2 We introduce four negative words"不,冇,冇得,莫"inZhuzhou dialect. Including explaining " lian " construction sentences, we will describe their syntactic distribution, meanings,and pragmatic values which can serve for the next chapter "'lian'+negative words "Chapter 3 Describe the sentence type of "'lian'+negative words " that is the first" lian " construction. Firstly we shall discuss the part of speech of " lian ", then describe the first" lian " construction which is made up by " lian " and negative words. Separately indicate the different elements of the sentence when matching with different negative words, its meanings and pragmatic values. At last we have a conclusion, point out the meaning of" lian " and the characters of " lian " construction.Chapter 4 Describe and analysis the second sentence type of " lian ". Firstly we introduce the characters of"V P+不+C"simplely, then the second " lian " construction——"'lian'+V P+不+C".Separately indicate types of verbs, objects and complements which are in sentence, and their own features. At last deduce the meaning, pragmatic values of "'lian'+V P+不+C"and part of speech of" lian ".Chapter 5 Compare " lian " constructions between Zhuzhou dialect and Mandarin. Find the differences and same aspects between them from grammar, meanings, pragmatic aspects. Lastly we get a conclusion of chapter 5.Chapter 6 Conclusion. Discuss the relationship between two " lian " constructions and deduce the causes why make such a specific appearance in Zhuzhou dialect.
