The mastering of the writing skills can reflect one's comprehensive faculty inlearning the language. Thus the teaching of writing has always been the most difficultpart of all foreign languages. Chinese, which is now being taught as a foreignlanguage to the overseas students, is probing its way in the field of writing pedagogy.In this thesis paper, 118 compositions with English-speaking background, weregathered from the overseas students'corpus. And then they were sorted out into twoclasses, namely the Advanced class and the Medium class. Statistics wereimmediately compiled after that, revealing the teachers should pay more attention, inthe aspect of grammatical cohesion, to the usage of anaphora(esp. the Chinese zeroanaphora), and the application of conjunctions in the process of teaching Chinese as aforeign language. In the first part, some related theories were introduced briefly. Thesecond part generalized the research methods and goals. The analysis of the writingmaterial was in the third part together with its conclusion. Finally, this papercorrespondently tried to provoke some rehearsal strategies in the writing class.
