| In 1960s, feminist movement was the most influential social movement in American history, it had an effect on individuals and all aspects of public life. For this movement, the academic field had a relatively detailed study on the following factors such as the periods, the causes of the feminist movement, the western feminist theory, and the American women's study, these studies were the bases for writing this article. This paper makes an analysis of the causes ,organizations, goals, achievements of the feminist movement in 1960s in the United States, and inquiries into its inherent social and cultural connotations, thus obtains an accurate outline of the relations between the women's movement in 1960s and changes in the social status of women, and has a knowledge of the changes in economy, politics, higher education, marriage ,family and the laws of the state after the feminist movement, to reflect the independent consciousness of women who want to have an equal status in their families and in society .Feminist movement in 1960s had a certain historical background and different social reasons. The consciousness of traditional sexist and the concept of existence shackled women's thoughts and actions. In World War II, women had gone into different fields of work. After World War II, the employment situation had changed greatly in competition. The necessary condition of the women's movement is the rise of competition of economic resources between women and men. The government of John F. Kennedy established the Commission on the Status of Women, the publication of the "The Feminine Mystique" played an important role in promoting the feminist movement, the social movements in 1960s had a direct impact on the feminist movement in the 20th century.In the feminist movement of 20th century, some organizations, such as National Organization for Women, Women's Equity Action League, Women's Liberation, Women's Health Movement, and so on, had been emergent; They published books to expound their opinions , organized activities to reveal their power.The central goal of the feminist movement in 1960s was to realize gender equality, that is, equality of employment chance, equality of equal pay for equal work for females and males, equality of political involvement, and equality of'sex'right. They required the right of choosing to have children or not. It was Roe V. Wade and Loe v. Bolton that promoted the gain of their right. The ERA movement, which appeared during the achievement for feminism goals in 1960s, was relatively long-drawn.
