The self-worth is one of the important facts of the ego. It pervasively impacts on people's cognition, emotion, behavior and mental health. The self-worth level of the volunteers for "Western Project"(Full name:Volunteers in College Students for "Western Project") will affect volunteers'participation in "Western Project", the enthusiasm and passion for work. This study used Adolescent self-worth questionnaire. The study investigated 160 volunteers'self-worth level and affecting elements by questionnaire, interviews and consulting literature materials. They come from Hubei, Sichuan and some other places. The results are as follows:1. The volunteers for "Western Project" in the personal orientation specific interpersonal self-worth factor are below the norm; in self-worth of other factors, the average score is higher than the norm.2. The self-worth level of the volunteers for "Western Project" is significantly different in demographic factors such as gender, age, family type and growth place.3. The self-worth level of the volunteers for "Western Project" is significantly different in job matching, work in urban or rural places and it is not obvious in the types of volunteers'subjects.4. The self-worth level of the volunteers for "Western Project" is significantly different in self-awareness, attribution and motivation. Social assessment is also an important factor to affect volunteers'self-esteem level.5. Compared with the general college students, community volunteers, the volunteers for "Western Project" have a higher self-esteem level.The following suggestions are given based on the research results to enhance "Western Project" volunteers'self-esteem level:1. To improve "Western Project" volunteers'self-esteem by the following three ways:contacting with volunteers'families, schools and voluntary service units that they are concerned, the relevant government agencies and social groups.2. To help volunteers fully understand that the individual and social significance has a positive meaning to raise their self-worth level.3. Guide volunteers to establish appropriate attribution model to enhance volunteers'self-worth.4. To help volunteers establish a sense of career planning and employment consciousness.5. To improve "Western Project" volunteers' social understanding.
