The high school stage is the important and changeable key period for individual growth. Self differentiation is a key task for individual growth. Researches in the field of self differentiation abroad are relatively rich, but researches at home are few and far between, and at present, there're no researches about high school students'self differentiation. On account of this, this study has prepared self differentiation questionnaires suitable for high school students under Chinese cultural background, investigated the relationship among high school students'attachment, self differentiation and self-esteem, and further investigated the mediating effect of high school students'self differentiation between their attachment and self-esteem. Through the investigation and analysis of questionnaires for 540 high school students at school, this paper has reached conclusions as follows:(1)Through open questionnaires, deep interviews, reexaminations, formal tests, etc. steps, the prepared self differentiation questionnaires for high school students include four dimensions: independent attitude, independent behavior, emotional stability and self position. The theoretical model fitting of these questionnaires is good, and the reliability and validity both achieve psychometric requirements. So they can be regarded as the effective measuring tool to test high school students'self differentiation.(2)The average level of high school students'self differentiation is low. In the test of liberal arts and science subjects'different variables, the factors of independent attitude, independent behavior, emotional stability and self position have significant differences. Grade 1 students are separately and significantly different from Grade 2 and 3 students in self differentiation's all dimensions and total points.(3)Correlation analysis shows that every two of high school students'attachment to patents, self differentiation and self-esteem has a significant positive correlation, and every two of high school students'attachment to companions, self differentiation and self-esteem has significant positive correlation.(4)High school students'self differentiation has mediating effect between the attachment to parents and self-esteem, that is to say the attachment to parents influences self-esteem through self differentiation.(5)High school students'self differentiation has mediating effect between the attachment to companions and self-esteem, that is to say the attachment to companions influences self-esteem through self differentiation.
