Higher vocational and technical education, as a basic type of higher education, developed in the early 1980s. In 1985, after the enactment of Decision by CCCP Concerning the Educational System Reform, it was formally included in the national higher education system.In recent 20 years, theoretical study and educational practices of Higher Vocational and Technical Education has made considerable progress. Because of the existence of traditional thought, people put emphasis on general university education and neglect the vocational and technical education, making vocational education in our country always difficult to get rid of general higher education pattern in the field of theory and practice. It can be said that higher vocational and technical education in China has not been able to form its own characteristics, which is particularly prominent in English teaching of higher vocational and technical education. Since the emergence of higher vocational and technical education, its English teaching basically follow the teaching concepts and teaching mode of general higher education, but not proceed from the actual situation of vocational education, summed up and adapt to college English teaching system. English teaching of higher vocational and technical education taking general higher education as a model, on the one hand, it is difficult to reflect the higher vocational education's characteristics, on the other hand, it makes teaching practice fall into the vicious circle that teachers are teaching tiredly and students are learning bitterly, and the low efficiency of teaching. Of course, quite a few researchers and practitioners of English teaching have made great reflections and research on the problem of English teaching of higher vocational and technical education and carry out some reforms and try to explore. No doubt, these exploration and attempt promote the constant development of the English teaching of higher vocational and technical education cause.This thesis mainly investigates the English practical teaching of higher vocational and technical institutions and its problems. By using vocational and technical education, English language teaching theory, it will be analyzed from different point of view.The thesis employs the integration of theoretical analysis and empirical analysis, theory into practice to analyze the actual situation of teaching in the three higher vocational and technical institutions in Shaanxi. On the basis of English practical teaching of higher vocational and technical institutions and its problems, it covers the education policy and guidelines of vocational education.In the aspects of the general higher education and higher vocational education English teaching, applying the comparison of dynamic and static and combination of lateral and longitudinal approach, it mainly use comparison of lateral and longitudinal approach in terms of vocational English textbooks. The Vocational School Non-English major English practical teaching status adopts questionnaires, including student's questionnaires, English teacher seminars questionnaires and education Administrative Staff personal interview questionnaire. On the basis of the qualitative analysis, quantitative analysis is introduced to make articles more convincing. Finally, it comprehensively puts forward exploration system in the construction of higher vocational and technical institutions English practical teaching.This thesis aim at exploring vocational English teaching to seek more effective method to improve the vocational English teaching. Starting from vocational English teaching, on the basis of analysis of the existing problem, the vocational teaching status will be analyzed in the perspectives of teaching concepts, textbooks, teachers, students, teaching process assessment to explore the construction of higher vocational and technical institutions non-English majors English practical teaching system.Eventually, the author points out that there are many shortcomings in this questionnaire due to various constraints, and generalized the experiences of vocational English practical teaching in the course of data analysis of findings.
