The Phonological Study Of The Dialect In Gengkou Town In Yueyang County

With its special location of Yueyang County,its dialect is very complex.But Yueyang dialect has not received the attention of the academia all the time,there have been few documents on the study of the dialects in Yueyang.Besides the record in local county annals,most of the study was mentioned in the general review of Hunan dialect and local works.Considering that and on the basis of investing in the locality,we mainly describe the phonetic system of Gengkou dialect——the largest town of Yueyang county,and divides Gengkou dialects into three districts.In addition,a comparison will be made among Gengkou dialects and the representative dialect of Xiang dialects,Gan dialect and Southwest official language,trying to make a conclusion to the dialect system in Yueyang county that fills the study gap of Yueyang dialects.The full thesis falls into six parts altogether.The Introduction Part shows briefly us the geography,the history,the population,the condition of languag uses of Gengkou county.It also introduces the present studies on the Yueyang county dialects and Gengkou town,and the emphasis and the main purpose of our research.The first chapter describes an account of the phonetic system,the features of initial consonant,compound vowel and tone of Gengkou dialects.The second chapter describes and analyses literary reading and colloquial reading and the layers of literary reading and colloquial reading on some characters.The third chapter cleans up the syllabary of Gengkou dialect.The fourth chapter uses the comparative method to the contours of the inside difference of Gengkou dialects roughly.According to it,Gengkou dialects is divided into three districts.In addition,we sum up the phonetic features of these districts.The fifth chapter uses the comparative and analytical methods to unveiling the differences and connections between every part of Gengkou dialects and the representative dialect of Xiang Dialect,Gan Dialect and Southwest Official Language.Then uses the statistic method to analyses the close or alienate relationship between them.Then,two conclusions are drawn that the category of Gengkou dialect and the peripheral dialects have exerted different degrees influence on Gengkou dialects.
