The purpose of this study is to understand paper and Chinese ink in the Chinese traditional painting material. Through a study of paper and the Chinese ink, to understand characteristic of the basic material of the Chinese painting and development of the Chinese culture.This study consists of the following several parts:I. Relating painting technique material science to Chinese tradition painting materialII. Studying the history of the development of paper and Chinese ink from bibliography and field investigation. Field investigation place: Zhuliuhe village, Xigaoshan, Gansu Province Beizhangcun village, Changan Ward, Xi'an City, Shanxi Province Jiajiang, Leshan City, Sichuan Province Huyuan, fuyang City, Zhejiang Province Jingxian Xuancheng City, Anhui Province Nara City, Nara Province, Japan Suzuka City, Mie Province, JapanIII. Analysing paper and Chinese ink. Paper: size and thickness, observing by the optical microscope, Graff's C-Stain. Black: drip testing, paper chromatography.This study uses a science together with humanities. I study it for practical result.
