The Zhaoge(棹歌) Image In Spirit Of Chinese Poetics

In traditional Chinese cultures, the culture of Yangzi Delta is one of the most representative ones due to its regional characteristics.And among all kinds of images within the culture of Yangzi Delta, the Zhaoge棹歌(the poems related to boating) is a typical one. Actually, Zhaoge is not only a particular poetry image, but also an important literary theme; and it not only originated in and developed from the folk but also was greatly concerned by literati in history-- both levels of the Zhaoge evolved respectively and interacted between each other.In particular, the folk Zhaoge mainly included love affairs and lovesickness between man and woman, while the Zhaoge created by literati demonstrated the pursuit of life value in the following aspects:nature, aestheticism, leisure, returning to the source, reclusion, freedom, and homesickness etc.. This thesis is an attempt to find out the clue of the development of Zhaoge as a literary genre and to dig out the interior meaning of Zhaoge as an image.
