This paper studies Bi Feiyu's local writing in his fictions based on some of his descriptions about the rural and urban areas made at different stages with various styles and themes, including his works regarded as the local fictions as well as the writing of local factors such as characters, ages and background of story in his fiction with other themes. The latter is also involved in this paper as another kind of local writing and supplement to Bi's local fictions, in order to have an overall reflection on his attitude to the local world in his all works, and make further exploration about his intention of local writing.We try to find out the characteristics and meaning of Bi's unique local writing through the description of the local culture in his works and different environments of local people, summary of his way to represent the local tragedies, daily life and the Cultural Revolution, combining his life and writing experience to explore his special feelings for the local culture and the background of local writing in the 1990's.Bi Feiyu turns to overview and criticize the local world from the perspective of reality for the impetus from his life experience in childhood and following the traditional spirit of local writing influenced by the realism since the May 4th Movement. His concerns about the human beings, their nature, their fate and their existence can be found in his works even including those with other themes, from his enthusiasm to write local tragedies, his description of local daily life during the Cultural Revolution, his concern about the power, his criticism about the out-date psychological situation of the local society and his concern about the existence of those people who escape from the rural areas and lost in city.
