As business relations between China and Germany are getting closer and closer, China is becoming Germany's largest trading partner in Asia, while the communication in other fields is also rapidly increasing. Language, as the basis of communication, presents its importance visibly. Chinese teaching has been promoted rapidly in Germany in the 21st century, various modes of teaching have been booming and the'Chinese Fever'is warming up constantly. Therefore, it's necessary to survey and study the current conditions of Chinese teaching in Germany in the 21st century, and deeply research the advantages and shortcomings while accelerating the Chinese popularity in Germany.The article reviews and consolidates the history of Chinese teaching in Germany by studying large amounts of related books in Chinese and German, as well as thoroughly analyzing those.Secondly, through document retrievals and communications with Chinese education institutes in Germany, the author has gathered related information and studied the six existing teaching modes:Chinese courses in primary and high schools, Chinese majors in comprehensive universities, Chinese majors in vocational universities, Chinese classes in language departments in universities and Chinese classes in social colleges and Confucius Institutes. Besides general introductions of the six modes, the article also selects a sample for each mode and compares these with the help of researches and student questionnaires.At last, based on the above investigations, the article analyzes the problems of current Chinese teaching in Germany, and brings forward suggestions and thoughts for the future.The article outlines the existing conditions of Chinese teaching in Germany in the 21st century, and examines comprehensively and focally the six major teaching modes. A vast amount of first-hand and precise information has been gathered through direct emails, calls, talks and questionnaires with and from students to support the study of Chinese teaching conditions in the 21st century, finding the current problems and bringing forward constructive suggestions.
