Mind mapping is a visual tool for the knowledge representing and also an approach which embodies divergent thinking.Since mind mapping approach and the concept based on the thinking visualization were introduced into the field of education ,it has brought a positive effect upon teaching and education.It has been an important tool in developing and improving students'thinking quality, as well as in stimulating and guiding students'creative thinking.On the other hand, English words is the basis of learning English, also the key to learning English well.However, the difficulty of memorizing English words has already become the main obstacle to learning English.So, this thesis attempts to apply mind mapping to helping memorize English words.This research selects Senior School students in Grade One as the research object, using the methods of documentation, experiment, questionnaires, interviews and case examples.By designing the English words mapping with cognitive habits of Senior School students in Grade One and the classroom application's mode to promote English words memory with mind mapping, this thesis explores the effectiveness of using mind mapping to promote English words memory in practice.By applying mind mapping, this research aims to make complicated ,forgettable and scattered English words in Senior School intuitive ,visualized ,logical and systematic in human brain, to cultivate the students'scientific study attitude to promote English words memory, to increase students'interests in learning English words and improve the correct rate of words spelling.This research fulfills the following tasks:Firstly, the thesis has reviewed the current researches of mind mapping and concept map at home and abroad, and found the junction of them with English words memory.The thesis has also defined some related key concepts,such as Mind mapping,concept maps,words,momory and English words mapping.Through careful analysis of literature,the thesis has understood deeply the area of this research and theoretically explained the feasibility of the integration between the mind mapping and the English words.Secondly, the thesis has explored a set of norms and methods of English words mapping designing, and accumulated rich and detailed case resources about the applying of English words mapping in class. According to the structure of English words mapping and the links between English words in the process of drawing words mapping,we have summed up the five kinds of English words mapping in structure and the three kinds of English words mapping in content,which can help students to draw the English words mapping.Thirdly, the thesis has made a systematic summary of the outline words of Senior School English in Grade One, and designed the English words mapping of each unit,module by using midnd mapping.Fourthly, experimental results has showed the effectiveness of using mind mapping in promoting English words memory in Senior School students.Using the comparative experiment method,attaching the questionnaire and interview,the thesis has verified the effectiveness of English words mapping promoting words'memory,and used descriptive statistics methods,Spass for Windows statistical software and Excel office software to process the data.And the results showed: Mind mapping can improve the correct rate of words spelling, promote the communication and cooperation among students and the cultivation of students'thinking quality. The English words mapping can improve students'learning habits and increase students'interests in learning English words.At last, the thesis has summed up the research and looked forward to the further research. |
