The Critical Point Of Life And Death On The Bitter Life

Since the 1990s, Yan Lianke's novels of "Palou series" are a unique existence with its extreme narrative style in contemporary literary circles. In the novels of "Palou Series", Yan Lianke expresses his concern for the plight of human existence through life and death narrative and reveals the survival of the difficulty and frustration when people are in the critical point of life and death. This paper takes Yan Lianke's novels of "Palou series" as the main object of study and the survival of life and death dilemma as the starting point. This paper discusses the Health/death narrative mode from practical level, the spiritual core and significance respectively in the novels of "Palou series ".The Paper text consists of three parts. The first part focuses on the representation cf life and death narrative mode in the real level. Yan Lianke reveals people's sentiment when they are at non-normal state of life-death, the distortion and alienation of human nature when they in the eve of life-death, the influence of power's suppression and the shackles on the villagers'life and death in three aspects:disease, human nature and power. The second part discusses the spiritual core of life and death narrative mode. In other words, this part shows the ridiculous situation of people in the dilemma whether people struggle to be alive or will to give up their lives. The third part of the paper states the significance of life and death narrative mode which subverts the ideal world of village. Yan Lianke seriously ponders over Chinese history and reality. He creates an extremely harsh living space in which people live in humble and despairs. Not only does the writer subvert the ideal mode of village in the natural environment, but also he deconstructs and ends the poetic imagination of village in ideals and values aspect. He also boldly exposes and criticizes Chinese history, contemporary social reality and system with deeply thinking about that.In novels of "Palou Series",Yan Lianke's extreme narrative is the way which writer wants to show his concern about reality and the plight of the people who live in low social class. However, his expression way makes readers tired on the aesthetic and also gives a limit on his later creation.
