After the World War II, France fought a eight-year colonial war in order to keep its colonial rule in Algeria. The war happened in Cold War period. During this period, international situation changed greatly. The War started on November 1,1954, the Hallowmas, it was more than one year after the death of Stalin. It is also several months after signing Geneva Agreement for solving Indo-China War. Algerian War is ended in March,1962. During Algerian War, the UK and French started an aggressive war to Egypt to continue controlling the Suez Canal. Algerian War expended the all strength of French.Algerian War is not only a colonial war between French and Algeria. We should study it in the international situation and solve it as an international crisis. During the whole course of the war, French is strictly restricted by the international reality. French wanted to take action alone on Algerian Issue without American chores. But all of French's policy is influenced by the US. The US's policy to Algeria War is helping French repress Algeria liberation movement and keep French colonial rule as well as assisting Algeria liberation movement to pursue hegemony and global strategy. In 1962, French and Algeria signed Evian Agreement. Algeria got independence in the end. Taking a sweeping view of the US's response and policy to Algerian War, the US's impact and influence is limited.
