| Self-control is a part of self-consciousness, which is an important ability of individual's, and it is a key factor to be succeed. Generally speaking, children with higher self-control have a relative better academic performance, better interpersonal relations and communication skills. They are relatively more mature, more responsible and can be better adapt to the society. However, the child's frontal cortex in the brain has not matured yet, so they conducted with lack of thinking, great impulse and weak self-control, which may lead to a lot of bad behaviors.In this study,199 students from grade 4 to 6 in rural elementary school were trained with the "self-control experiment programs" for 2 months. The training was concerned about seven themes, whose duration was 75 minutes, and it was conducted with one theme per week. The " Student Self-control Scale with Child Self-reported" was established by Pang Meiyun and Liu Jinhua in Huadong Normal University which was used before and after experiment to examine the ability of students' self-control ability level in four aspects as the learning behavior, behavior habits, social intercourse and self-control qualities.The conclusions were as follows:1).The students had got higher self-control level in grades 4 to 6 in rural elementary school after being trained consciously. However, only students in grade four, whose habits of self-control dimension had been improved significantly.2).The students with difference gender in rural elementary school from grade 4 to 6 were trained the self-control ability. The significant differences were well found for gender only in the sixth grade in the dimensions about learning behavior of self-control. However, other grades didn't like that.3).The effect of self-control ablility training had no significant difference among grades, which was made by the students from grade 4 to 6 in rural elementary school.4). In the short term, the changes of self-control ability in the low self-control group was greatest, which was in line with the expectation. There was no significant difference among low, middle and high group for the changes of their self-control level, but there was a long-term effect among students of different self-control level.Therefore, it is necessary to set up self-control training in rural school. If the school trains the students in self-control capacity consciously, it can not only cultivate their study habits and learning ability, but also be helpful to physical and mental health and sustainable development. |
