The Study Of JIANG Sentence In Cookbook Procedural Discourse

This thesis investigates the JIANG sentence that express meaning of "chuzhi" in the cookbook procedural discourse. Try to show that discourse influences syntax. Based on functional grammar, the paper utilizing the method of combining forms and meaning, method of language materials statistics, adopting research method of comparison to describe and discuss the JIANG constructions in the cookbook procedural discourse, analyzes the characteristic of this constructions at Syntactic, Semantic and Pragmatic Dimensions, then started from these features, to contrast the JIANG sentence among cookbook Procedural Discourse, Television Reportage and Television interview Dialogue.The whole paper consists of five parts:In the introduction part, the paper introduces the research situation of JIANG sentence and reasons of this topic, and briefly explains the cookbook Procedural Discourse, which belongs to Procedural Discourse. It shows unique merit in language utilization. Meanwhile, the significance, methods and language materials of research also displayed in this part.Part two concerns the syntax analysis of JIANG sentence in the cookbook Procedural Discourse. This part analyzes the structure of JIANG sentence from the perspective of syntax. Objects of JIANG are constituted by Nouns and Noun Phrases, Transitive Verb which express behavior constitutes the verb of JIANG sentence. On the basis of elements of verb around, the paper classifies JIANG sentence in the cookbook Procedural Discourse to three kinds:the JIANG sentence whose verb with object, the JIANG sentence whose verb with complement, the JIANG sentence whose verb with adverb. Part three is about the semantic analysis of JIANG sentence in the cookbook Procedural Discourse. It depicts and briefly analyzes the study of Basic semantics of BA sentence since 1940s, and summarizes the Basic semantics of JIANG sentence in the cookbook Procedural Discourse is to deal with something; it particularly analyzes the semantic relationship between object of JIANG and verb of JIANG sentence in the cookbook Procedural Discourse, this part also analyzes the Semantic Orientation of Adverb and Complement.Part four states the pragmatics of JIANG sentence in the cookbook Procedural Discourse. Functional linguistic consider that discourse effect grammar. Affected by procedural discourse, JIANG sentence have those trait in pragmatics such as:the amount is more than BA sentence, abbreviate subject, "liandong duanyu" to act as the verb of JIANG sentence, and object behind the verb.Part five examines and analyzes the JIANG sentence among other discourse. The paper has a comparison in cookbook Procedural Discourse, Television Reportage and Television interview Dialogue, to deliberate the difference of JIANG sentence from the aspect of syntactic, semantic and pragmatics. Through comparison, we found that JIANG sentence shows different distinctive features when used in different contexts.
