Famous for its "deep-secludedness and lonely-vigorousness" style, Jingling School had caused a lasting and profound influence in the literature circle of late Ming Dynasty and early Qing Dynasty. In the late Ming Dynasty, different styles of literary appeared one after another. The Jingling School, on the one hand, rejected the Seven Scholar School's way of "returning to the old and retrogress". And on the other hand they helped to enrich the humorous leisure essays of the Gongan Genre. Consisting of their writing style of "expressing the soul alone", Jingling School opened a new way and new direction to the "deep-secludedness and lonely-vigorousness" style in order to fulfill the great transition of poetries and articles. At that time, the public morals and the mainstream literary trend was therefore totally changed. The backbone of Jingling, Zhong and Tan, then became well known throughout China.Starting from introducing the prose work of Zhong, Tan and Liutong, this thesis tend to analyze the language environment related to the history and culture of that day; investigate the formation and development of their literature viewpoints as well as their affect to the society; conclude the aesthetic qualities in their prose, and finally make a holistic approach to their literary concept and practice. Compared with Gongan Genre, the thesis also focus on the immanent contradiction of literature in late Ming Dynasty, "Emotion and Spirit". The author also comb the position in which Jingling School stood in the ideological trend of Ming Dynasty in order to not only review their function and status to the whole literary history but also realize the great guiding importance of their literary proposition to nowadays realistic practice.
