Guo Moruo is considered as one of the greatest poet in new literature history of China. He is the representative in poetry during the "May 4th" Movement and the prophet in poetry of New China. He is excellent and unique in poetic creativeness. In addition from the glorious literary writing achievements, Guo Moruo has translated many great foreign works, which are collected in his translation works such as Anthology of the Translated Poems by Guo Moruo, Translated Manuscripts of English Poems and Rubaiyat. On translation theory and translation standard, Guo Moruo also has his uniqueness. His main translation viewpoints are collectively expressed in several passages including On the Work of Literary Translation, On the Study and Introduction of Literature and The Discussion of Annotation Movement and Other Things. The "Flavor" Translation proposed by Guo Moruo in 1920 is of great research value to China's translation theory construction. However, Guo Moruo's translation achievement has not been significantly explored for several reasons. In addition, the scientific and objective analysis based on relative translation theory is especially far from enough.Medio—Translatology brought out in late 1970s provides a proper theoretical reference to Guo Moruo's translation study. For it surpasses the traditional translation studies, introduces the notion of "Creative Treason", and accepts any translation production as an already existed fact despite the quality of the translation and the judgment on it.This paper mainly studies on Guo Moruo's English poetry translation, analyzes and discusses the Medio—Translatology elements and features included. In the first three chapters of the paper, Medio—Translatology and relative theoretical background are introduced; in addition, Guo Moruo's English poetry translation activities and viewpoints are summarized. In chapter four, creative treasons in poetic form including rhythm, rhyme, line and stanza are analyzed with examples selected from the poems translated by Guo Moruo. In chapter five, creative treasons and the according reasons are illustrated and analyzed from different aspects, which include creative treason in semantic level, creative treason in meaning aspect, creative treason in word building and creative treason in sentence order. In chapter six, creative treasons and the reasonable explanations are discussed from the conception aspect mainly by image analysis. The last chapter is the summary of the creative treasons in Guo Moruo's English poetry translation, the limitations of the theory in practical research, and the suggestions for further research. The significance of the research is manifested in that it is not confined to the traditional translation research scope. Instead, it explains the creative treason elements in Guo Moruo's English poetry translation from a new angle of view. Therefore, it may be helpful for a deeper understanding of Guo Moruo's translation achievement, and it is also a practice to apply the Medio—Translatology to the practical translation analysis.
