Roger Fry is considered as one of the founders of formalism. It was universally known that he set the title called "post-Impressionism". Roger Fry seems progressive, and radical. In order to push modern art to the public, and to dispel the strangeness that modern art brought to them,he, actually, had used "classical spirit" to summarise the characteristics of the French modern artists. At the same time, Fry found the creative idea in the works of Cézanne and others from the classical masters: grasping the appearance of nature intellectually, framing order forms in scenes. Roger Fry appreciated the order of forms in French modern artists'works most that their resistance is significant to the Impressionist, and which herald a new era of art.
