A Cheng, one of the most important writers in Chinese Contemporary Literature, used to be considered as a representative writer of Root-Seeking Literature and his works were also used to be defined from the Root-Seeking point of view. But more and more researchers started to suspect the rationality of previous statement. Because of the series of his works published during 1990s, several researchers realized that there must be some misunderstanding between his real thinking of literature creation and most people's research. This essay aimed to follow the definition of'Secular', which was supported by A Cheng, to reread all the works written by him, then to reverse all the misunderstandings about him, and to redefine the meaning of his literature texts. Through all this study, we may have a clear understanding about what kind of influence that Chinese Traditional Culture had on Chinese Contemporary Literature, and how Secular Culture made an effect on A Cheng's Literature Creations. This essay will reread all his works one by one, and make a new study on language features, narrative skills and literature themes by taking positivism method. At last we will make a definite conclusion that A Cheng always pay close attention to Secular Culture and Secular spirit in different works written in different time.Secular Culture, in one hand, influenced his literary language of simplicity, which coming from folk language, was vivid, efficient and few modifiers. And in the other hand, not only literary language but also text structure was influenced by Secular Culture, which was linear and uncomplicated. Because of the careful observation and the objective understanding of the secular life, A Cheng did not simply praise the entire of secular life, but certainly vibrant secular society, while its rough superficial of'habits'in an objective reflected.Because of the study of whole A Cheng's literature creations, his creative concepts and ideas were fully revealed, so the bran-new conclusion providing a new perspective and being different from the traditional sense is formed that although we cannot entirely negative A Cheng's Root-Seeking consciousness, but only in this way to define his works it's obviously biased. He affirmed Root-Seeking to promote multi-cultural knowledge of the structure and composition, and personally put the secular understanding of his own throughout his literature and even his concrete life.
