In this paper, we will investigate Chinese pragmatic failure about Thai students through questionnaires and individual interviews. The survey content can be divided into pragmatic failures in verbal communication and pragmatic failures in non-verbal communication, among them the former can be divided into language pragmatic and social pragmatic failures, non-verbal pragmatic failures will mainly be examined from the body language, Vice-language, object language and environment.The survey found that Thai students language pragmatic failures mainly include: not pay attention to stress and intonation in the role of communication in Chinese; make mistakes in both pronouns and the words with cultural meanings; affected by the native language order,borrow native language grammar model when use Chinese; make errors caused by using Idioms and customary improperly. Social Pragmatic Failure mainly perform that comments greeting do not use usually, the title-based greeting does not meet the Chinese habit; In request act,Thais always make an apology first, and then request; In the compliment, the Thai people prefer to compliment, in the face with a compliment, Thai students can't respond in positive strategy, and often make mistakes on the implicit compliment; in the invitation act, Thai students could not distinguish between genuine and non genuine invitation:In thanks act, they can't distinguish between obligations and rights, they use "thank you" more than Chinese. The survey also found that pragmatic failures of Thai students in non-verbal communication is relatively more. They feature mainly in four aspects:Body language,Paralanguage,Object language and Environmental language.Based on the survey, this article made detailed analysis for the reasons of Thai student's failures from subjective aspects including cultural factors, cognitive factors and personal factors and objective aspects including teachers, textbooks. Cultural differences include the different in ways of thinking, worldview and values. Cognitive factors include images highlight and recognize the script, personal factors are students own issues, such as not using Chinese context, cultural identity contradictions. Among them cultural differences play the most important role in pragmatic failures. The main reason of teachers perform in not being strongly sensitivity to Chinese pragmatics, and understanding of the concept culture being sided, taking tolerant attitude on the pragmatic errors of foreign students, and so on. The problems about materials mainly perform in the target is not strong, pragmatic doesn't comply with the habits of Chinese language, the answer of some speech act is single, and rarely involving non-verbal communication and so on.With the analysis we also put forward some recommendations:enhance the cultivation of students Pragmatic Competence, strengthen the training of Chinese language teachers, and develop the Chinese language teaching materials which fit to the characteristics of Thai students.
