Researching the adjective reduplication of "Rickshaw Boy" in details from the aspects of structural styles, grammatical functions and semantics, this paper is made up of six parts to get a relatively comprehensive study of the adjective reduplication in this work.The first part is introduction which mainly introduces the researching significance, methods and contents of the paper and defines the range of research on the adjective reduplication in this paper.Then, it comes the second part which is the comprehensive review on the current study of adjective reduplication of modern Chinese. Adjective reduplication is one of the key subjects of the study on Chinese grammar, and the circle of modern Chinese and dialect grammar has already got rich achievements about it, which provides some important references for us to study the adjective reduplication of "Rickshaw Boy" by general reviews on the study of structural styles, phonetic forms, grammatical functions and semantics of the adjective reduplication.The third part lists various styles of the adjective reduplication in "Rickshaw Boy" in details and further studies them one by one, by the methods of statistics of quantity and formal description.Next part analyzes the combined functions and the competence which acts as the syntactic component of the adjective reduplication in "Richshaw Boy". It summarizes its grammar characteristics by the study on the adjective reduplication in details. At the other extreme, it further sums up the applied features of adjective reduplication of the old Beijing dialect from Mr. Laoshe's works, comparing with the adjective reduplication of modern Chinese.The fifth part reveals the essential characteristics of adjective reduplication semantics from the aspects of the degree meaning, image coloring and emotional coloring of adjective reduplication.Finally, it is the conclusion part which summarizes the main conclusion of the the discussion and analysis and puts forward the problems in the study and the future research direction as well. |
