A Research Of Cover Version In Popular Music

In popular music, cover version is an old topic to people, but there is little attention to it in theory. Therefore, it can not obtained common consensus on cover version. Especially when the one-sidedness and casualness of evaluation criterions are introduced, we fail to discuss and research with the same foundation knowledge. Aiming at these problems, a large number of researches on the cover version were made in this paper based on a great deal of investigation. In addition, some common characteristics of the cover version are obtained through compare and analysis of the original version and cover version. Meanwhile, theoretical foundation is given on aesthetic thoughts. In this paper, a reasonable and scientific definition of the cover version is presented. My research is concerned with the popular reason of cover version in many aspects. At the same time, many practical problems which were exposed should not neglect. Some significant suggestions have been proposed in the paper.
