Foreign Policies Of Zheng State During The Spring And Autumn Period

The Spring and Autumn Period in Chinese history is full of development changes. As the Zhou royalty declining, its authority was acquired by other states. Most states had its sovereignty concept and began to free with seeking the development of national independence. At the same time, put them into the contending for hegemony. Undoubtedly, Zheng State was the most typical and special state changeable in the international situation, which had experiences of high reputation and downturn. Zheng state had bullied the small country as the great nation, at the same time, Zheng state was also in the oppressed phenomenon as a medium state under the greater nation, and even came into perishing almost. By researching foreign policies of Zheng State, we could investigate both of characteristics of large and small states, and come to the difference and connection between different states' foreign policies in the same background for our deeply researching and comprehening the history in that times and afterwards.According to the characteristics and development vein of Zheng State's foreign policies, we put this paper into a longitudinal and cross-sectional research.At first, we'll research the influencing factors of Zheng State's foreign policies in Chapter 1,including its geographical environment,economic development and social culture. We could draw the conclusion of deep causes of influencing factors of Zheng State's foreign policies through analysis and comparison.Secondly, this dissertation will divide into four segments to analyze the diplomacy problems of Zheng State, according to its longitudinal development.The first stage of diplomacy development which had reached its peak will be analyzed in Chapter 2.In this Chapter, we will argument the background of this stage and the foreign policies executed by Duke Zheng Zhuang.In the Chapter 3, we will research the deep reason and expression of Zheng state's decadence after its flourishing which had less investigation by previous investigators especially in the problem of throne's inheritance about four princes. This part will be the highlight in whole of paper.Chapter 4 will be used to research the fourth stage of Zheng State's diplomacy in the Spring and Autumn Period which had a manifestation of insertion between two greatest states. Instead of most little states which had negatively copied with the great states, Zheng State toke measures initiatively to make chance according to its local conditions and the timing for a relaxing situation. The foreign policies of Zheng State in this stage fully reflected its survival wisdom which is worth studying.The last stage of diplomacy development of Zheng State's small range resurgence will be studied in Chapter 5 which don't have a deeply research because of the focus of research in this part, especially the minister of Zichan.Additionally, Zheng also have a superpower policy and dominator diplomatic to other small country, which could express by the relationship between Zheng and Xu state .This problem will be researched in the paper's appendix.
