The purpose of this study is to review the "Jin Suo Ji" written by Ai Ling Jang(1920-1995) with respect to the theme and the characters of the novel, the art features, and the impacts and influences on the literatures in China and South Korea. Even though Ai Ling Jang is the one of the major writers in the history of modern Chinese literature, her works are not re-evaluated until the late of 20th century, and, furthermore, the academic researches on her work are not too many. In addition, the researches with respect to her works are in early stage in South Korea and specifically the researches on the "Jin Suo Ji" are also rare. Therefore, this study is conducted by focusing on the research survey of "Jin Suo Ji" of Ai Ling Jang. In terms of the theme of the novel, I discuss the two aspects of the "Jin Suo Ji" as follows;First, the "Jin Suo Ji" criticizes the feudal social system which is oppressing female.Second, the "Jin Suo Ji" describes the phenomenon of human alienation under the mammonism. She describes the human alienation under the mammonism throughout her novel in such a way that the fate of "Qi Qiao Cao(the main character in the "Jin Suo Ji")", eventually ends up with tragedy as results that he loves money like his life and ignores the ethics within the members of family and social relationships. With respect to the characters in the novel, she analyzes the male and female separately. Using her plentiful imagination and observation she creates the characters that possess both the similarity and a different personality, simultaneously. Even though she presents the personality of the every character in the "Jin Suo Ji" throughout a complex psychological description, she does not endow him with the absolute good and evil.In terms of art features, she uses a traditional narrative method and has frequent uses of the image of the moon and mirror which represent the sadness and tragic destiny of the characters to highlight the main theme. Lastly, I analyze the impact and influences of "Jin Suo Ji" of Ai Ling Zhang on Chinese and Korean creation and appreciation in literature.
