Compared to sound, grammar is in a deeper level in the language structure, more stable, and more likely to retain the traces of history. Because of historical and geographical reasons, Zhoushan dialect has a different grammar from other surrounding areas, which may have research value. As there are a lot of articles disscussing the unique characteristics of Zhoushan dialect, therefore I choose the syntax of Zhoushan dialect as my research object. The full paper is divided into five parts. The first part is introduction. In this part, we will talk about the geographical situation, the history and the population of Zhoushan, as well as the initial consonants, rhythmic entries and tones of Zhoushan Dialect. The significance of this paper is also explained. The second part is about the aspects of Zhoushan dialect. We divide the aspects of Zhoushan dialect into five kinds: accomplishing aspect, progressing aspect, persisting aspect, experience aspect and trying aspect. Detailed patterns and functional description of each aspect are provided. The third part is about common sentence pattens in Zhoushan dialect. In this part, we will talk about the commomly used sentences, such as comparative sentence, passive sentence, disposal sentence and negative sentence. These sentences are specificly described and compared with Mandarin and other parts of the Wu dialect. The fourth part is about the word order of Zhoushan dialect. As a language which lack of morphological changes, the changes of Mandarin garammar mainly depends on function words and word order. Generally speaking, the word order of sentence of all dialects is not very different from the Mandarin, most of which are SVO, but the Wu dialect area, Zhoushan dialect in particular, has a lot of differences in the sentence comparing to Modern Chinese. According to the study of Greenberg, the word order of SOV language is the postpreposition language. In Zhoushan dialect there are many postpositions, and the system of postposition is more developed than the preposition system. The last part is conclusion. This is the coclusion of the whole paper. It also gives some consideration regarding to the research of dialect.
