A Study On The Joke Poems In Later Ming Dynasty's Joke Albums

"Joke Poem" is one of important branch of modern Chinese verse that can trace back to Western and Eastern Han Dynasties, and through the development of Tang Dynasty and a thousand years which evolve into Modern and Contemporary Poetry. "Joke Poem" as one branch of modem Chinese verse, although distinguish from Chinese Classical Poetry, its stylistic esteem current fashions interest has irreplaceable significance and value in the history of modern Chinese verse and literature, even the whole Chinese Poetry and literature.In the long history of modern Chinese verse, "Joke Poem" in the joke album of Later Ming Dynasty shows its prosperity by excessive amounts of them and excellent artistic value never seen before, and meanwhile as one of integral component of Joke literature it has particular significance and value to Joke literature . Throughout the ages, it's regretfully found that scholars neither study them as Modern Vernacular Chinese nor group them to this category, instead they just scattered recorded or pointed their existence. The study of Ancient Chinese Jokes almost focuses on their artistic idea characteristic, but the study of one particular time is far away from perfect, not to mention studying them from the angle of verse. Therefore this paper will study the " Joke Poem " in the joke album of Later Ming Dynasty in a round way that looking forward to an useful supply and promote.The texts in this paper came from almost twenty kinds of Joke Volumes of Later Ming Dynasty; the author would like to make a full research with careful collecting and analyzing them. Part I of the body of this paper first introduces the themes of "Joke Poem" in the joke album of Later Ming Dynasty which mainly from females,intellectuals and merchantmen. Part II concretely analyzes their artistic achievements which from fowling four aspects: form,language,expressive technique,style. Part III deeply analyses the reasons why they rising which discussed from society background,their self-development and the causes for originating from jokes. Part IV illustrates their significance and value in whole literature history.
