Zhao Guangming is, undoubtedly, one of the best writers who are good at expressing the theme of wander in the contemporary literary circle. He lives in the remote western frontier telling stories of wander through his novels. Wander, as the human long-term way of existence, has its cultural significance which has been expressed by Zhao Guangming in his novel. His works, to some extent, is even a fable about wander.Wander, at first, was a kind of active response made by our ancestors in order to adept to the natural environment. Afterwards, it turned into an autonomous optional behaviors and a way of existence. It has two meanings; one refers to an open, dynamic and unstable living space. The other one indicates the rootless state of our soul, the life state that we have to bear alone the fate of life. This rootless and helpless state led to our wander. We have been always looking for homeland ceaselessly both for our body and for our spirit.The thesis takes wander as a breakthrough point, has discussed all the meanings of wander in Zhao Guangming's works. The thesis analyzing Zhao Guangming's novel can be divided into four parts.First, general introduction is about the cultural significance of wander, the history of the development of wander literature in the eastern and western world and the unique character of the wander both in Xinjiang and Xinjiang literature.Second, analyzing the characters in the novels based on the two meanings of wander that means the two different way of wander indicated by the main characters of the novels. One is the wander of body and the other one is the wander of spirit.Third, based on the three aspects which are wander, homeland and power, the thesis has analyzed the endless wander life indicated by Zhao Guangming's works and pointed out the wander nature of life and the desolation of life.Fourth, Zhao Guangming's works were actually a fable of wander as a whole. Fable reflects life in a philosophical way. The last part of the thesis has discussed the philosophical meaning of the novels from the perspective of metaphor, tragedy, irony and fable which is expected to think about Zhao Guangming's work metaphysically.Thinking about the philosophy of life, actually, people all around are in a state of wander. We never feel content with the present life. However, we never know that the story in other shore is also sad and bitter. Paradise is always far away from us. After suffering from the tough and arduous wander time and time again, we have experienced innumerable cold and desolate ends. The emptiness of life with a sense of absurdity is blowing against our faces.
