The metaphorical representation of power usually corresponds to the vertical position and the size of space, that is, people are accustomed to using the vertical position of space and the size of space to map the strength of the power. It has been demonstrated that the Power can be represented in vertical space metaphor (Chen, Ke, Jiang, & Xiao, 2014;Schubert,2005) and size metaphor (Tang,Ye,& Du,2015; He,Chen,Zhang,& Li,2015;Schubert, Waldzus, & Giessner, 2009). Different power experiences can lead to distortions in people’s perception, such as Tang Peipei and her colleagues (2015) discovered that the strong-power primed group is more likely to overestimate the size of the stimuli than the weak-power primed group. How will different power experiences affect people’s memory? The present study adopt the change detection paradigm attached with a lexical judge task to study the influence of spatial metaphor of Power on the memory of spatial properties of objects. The study 1 mainly discusses the influence of the metaphor of the up-down metaphor on the spatial memory of the object. The study2 mainly discusses the influence of the size metaphor of the power on the size memory of the object. Our results show that: (1) the power concept can be represented by both up-down metaphor and size metaphor; (2) it will be longer the time spent on the location memory extracting of the object in lower space after a powerful word being processed compared to a powerless one,the accurate rate free from influence; (3) the accurate rate of the extraction of the big object will be higher after a powerless word being processed compared to a powerful one, the reaction time free from influence. According to the results following the current experiment paradigm, the up-down metaphor of the power could have an effect on the retrieving time, different from that the size metaphor could influence the accurate rate.Further research will be needed to figure out the difference between these two kinds of concept metaphor representation of the power.
