| Textual Research on Geography in The Book of Songs is the main representative works as a result of studying The Book of Songs by Wang Yinglin, who was a scholar in Nansong Dynasty. It is also an earliest extant monograph that textually researches relevant geography in The Book of Songs. Nonetheless, the academic value has not been obtained enough attention and few scholars have made systematic study. Based on this, the thesis author has made his research from the following five aspects:The first part mainly introduces WangYinglin's life career. WangYinglin has a tough life and was floating and sinking in the official seas without stopping writing. He still feels concerned about the country and its people although banished from the governmental position at that time which exerts a greatly far-reaching influence on the establishment of academic thought that academy should play an active role in social development. This part focuses on exploration on his thought of actively attending mundane life and his seclusion of teaching and writings with the purpose of understand his academic thought by understanding Wang Yinglin himself.The second part mainly deals with what contributes to his composing Textual Research on Geography in The Book of Songs from two angles. The first angle is involved in his condition, including Wang's academic origin, academic ideas research tendency and great achievements on studying The Book of Songs and geography. The second is the social conditions, including era environment, academic background, and research achievements of The Book of Songs of all dynasties and ancient history and geography. The first angle is emphasized in this part and the second about social conditions is briefly discussed. The discussion above helps us to further explore the theoretical connotation and research value of Textual Research on Geography in The Book of Songs, which is of great help to writing other three parts.The third part puts on emphasis on discussing the application of Wang's textual research thinking in the book. Firstly, this thesis points out different versions of the numbers of the volumes by different scholars. Namely, there is a doubt about the book having five volumes or six volumes. Secondly, what Wang has textually researched is expounded from different aspects contributes us to comprehensive grasping the whole book. Finally, on the basis of the above discussions, the characteristics of Wang's textual research is further analyzed, which makes us have a better understanding of its influences on later appearance of textual research.In the fourth part, the thesis examines and distinguishes cited materials in the book. However, there exist several differences between cited materials in Textual Research on Geography in The Book of Songs and existing books. Through the analysis of these materials, we can grasp the characteristics of Wang's citing books and the impact of Textual Research on Geography in The Book of Songs in text-proofing old books.In the fifth part, the thesis analyzes citation of today's lost books in Textual Research on Geography in The Book of Songs, such as Shipu.Kuodizhi, Zheng Zhi and so on and therefore, we can know the book's values and contributions in compiling from Chinese ancient booksFinally, the thesis makes a brief analysis of impacts of Textual Research on Geography in The Book of Songs on studying The Book of Songs, especially on studying geography in The Book of Songs. |
