A Study On Wu Pei-fu's Thought

The warlords is an important phenomenon in modern China。Northern warlords had become the most important force in the Chinese political arena in the early years of the Republic。The struggle and cooperation among the warlords constituted a basic picture of Chinese history。Thus,Northern warlords is an important part of the modern history of research。This article is a case study on Wu Pei-fu,a well-known warlords。Wu is an important member of the late Northern。He had a major impact in Chinese history。As a warlord,he has a certain particularity。Wu received systemic and formal tradition education。Traditional culture had enormous impact on Wu。The concept of Ceremony and the idea of benevolence are infiltration into Wu's political,military and cultural thought。This paper investigated three aspects of Wu's thought。It is:political ideological,military ideological and cultural thought。context,The main concern of Wu's political ideological are:"the people" in the country's political status,forming the traditional idea of the people;the issue of national unity,forming the traditional concept of national unity;China and foreign relations,forming the external relations with traditional thinking。I think that,Wu's ideas of people,national unity and patriotism are worthy in a sense。They can not be totally negated,or simply to be determined "hypocritical"。Wu's military thought is both traditional and modern。He inculcated on the soldiers the duties of loyalty and final piety。But the measure didn't take effect obviously。Because traditional education can not stop officers and soldiers from pursuit of survival and interests。In addition,Wu also expressed some proposals about public opinion war,three-dimensional warfare and information warfare。Wu inherited this culture thought:Chinese Learning for Fundamentals,Western Learning for Practical Application。He proclaimed principle China's cultural superiority and attached great importance to the traditional Chinese concept of loyalty and filial piety,husband and wife。The worthies of Wu's thought can not deny their fundamental departure from the era.In the Chinese history backdrop of social transformation to move forward,what's Wu thought is "return to tradition" and "to deny self and return to propriety",which determines that political ideals can not be achieved。What's he can do is only self-regulating。This is the root causes of his political failure。...
